Tanya Tan, a student in the English MA in Literatures of Modernity (and Ryerson BA English alumna), has been named as a Top 25 Storyteller finalist in the 2016 Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council鈥檚 (SSHRC) Storytellers Challenge. As SSHRC explains, the contest 鈥渃hallenges postsecondary students from across the country to demonstrate鈥攊n three minutes or 300 words鈥攈ow SSHRC-funded research is making a difference in the lives of Canadians.鈥 Tanya鈥檚 entry focuses on Dr. Colleen Derkatch鈥檚 research study 鈥淩hetorics of Wellness: Discourse Mapping in an Illness-Oriented Culture.鈥 The project explores the language of wellness.

As one of the Top 25 Storyteller Finalists, Tanya receives a prize of $3,000 and gear up to present at the Storytellers Showcase at the 2016 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Calgary from May 28-30
