Yousef Khalifa Aleghfeli

Yousef Khalifa Aleghfeli is Research Fellow in Migration Data Science where they lead projects that sit at the nexus of migration and mobility studies and data science methods, with particular interest in forced migration and refugee studies. Yousef is currently the Project Manager for Demographic Projections and Migration Foresight. Yousef also teaches as a sessional lecturer at the CERC Migration Winter School. Yousef's strengths lie in their ability to integrate large quantitative data using R and Python with large qualitative data using NVivo in order to answer complex social inquiries.

Before joining CERC Migration, Yousef completed their DPhil in Education at the University of Oxford, where they wrote on the based on fieldwork and data collection in Jordan and Greece. Yousef also worked as a Research Officer for the and at the University of Oxford Department of Education, and as a Research Fellow for the and the  at the University of Nottingham School of Education.

Yousef is a recipient of the SSHRC Connections Grant, the Bridging Divides Workshop Grant, the British Association for International and Comparative Education Fieldwork Grant and was named Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK in recognition of their teaching practice. Yousef also completed visiting fellowships with the at the National University of Singapore and the  (FLACSO-Ecuador) in Quito, Ecuador.

Prior to pursuing academia, Yousef gained extensive professional experience working in research, policy, and data analytics for various governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental organizations internationally. Yousef also completed a Master of Education from Harvard University, a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the American University of Sharjah in the UAE.
