Curran Nault
Curran Nault is an award-winning media arts scholar, curator, and cultural organizer specializing in grassroots transmedia art, queer cultural production, and subcultural formations. They are the author of Queercore: Queer Punk Media Subculture (Routledge) and the forthcoming Radical Remains: Queer Recreation in the Ruins (Duke University Press), which examines LGBTQ+ do-it-together (DIT) creative persistence amid contemporary crises. Their scholarship appears in Camera Obscura, Feminist Media Studies, Jump Cut, Transgender Studies Quarterly, Feminist Theory, Journal of Film and Video, GLQ, and anthologies including The Oxford Handbook of Queer Cinema and Queer Love in Film and Television. They served as principal editor of the 2026 GLQ Special Issue on Queer Apocalypse. Their scholarship has evolved in tandem with an extensive curatorial and cultural organizing practice through the co-founding of the Austin Asian American Film Festival, as former Artistic Director of aGLIFF, and as founder of the NEA-supported radical queer arts organization OUTsider.
