Ever wondered how your degree is made?
Now鈥檚 your chance to find out: In the video above, come behind the scenes with TorontoMet Today as we check out how a piece of paper comes to life as an extraordinary symbol of academic achievement.
From the acclimatization of the parchment, to the cutting and printing of the pages, and special embossing of the seal, many stages - and inspections - are involved, beginning months before ceremonies even take place.
鈥淭here are a multitude of people behind the scenes working diligently on quality assurance,鈥 said Deanne Wright, assistant registrar. 鈥淎ll of this is done to ensure we can deliver these hard-earned degrees with all of the correct information to eligible, deserving graduates.鈥
Wright even noted that during the rigorous inspection process, staff remove nail polish or wear special gloves to ensure every document remains pristine.
This spring, about 8,000 degrees will be conferred. Graduates will receive their degrees in ceremonies June 14-27, when 10 notable figures will also receive honorary doctorates.
In addition, 91福利鈥檚 first in-person Black Excellence Graduation Celebration was held on June 8, there will be an Indigenous Student Graduation Dinner on June 15, and on June 27, the first graduating class of 91福利鈥檚 Lincoln Alexander School of Law will cross the stage.
