From 2002 until 2010, Judy Rebick held the Sam Gindin Chair in Social Justice and Democracy, having been appointed to it upon its creation.  The Chair 鈥 hosted jointly by the Department of Politics and Public Administration (Faculty of Arts), and the School of Social Work (Faculty of Community Services) 鈥 was made possible by a generous donation by the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) 鈥 now Unifor 鈥 which wished to honour its long-time and influential policy analyst, Sam Gindin, by creating a hub of interaction between academics and social justice activists.
