Future of Healthcare pathway program to encourage post-secondary pursuits and careers in healthcare

91福利 is partnering with the Peel District School Board (PDSB) to develop the Future of Healthcare program 鈥 a pathway program for high school students in the region
January 29, 2024

The Future of Healthcare pathway program will target underrepresented youth and expose them to postsecondary education that could lead to career opportunities in the healthcare field. The program plans to launch a speaker series and postsecondary course offerings for high school students, with experiential learning opportunities and other components to come in future years as the program expands.

In addition to the School of Medicine, the Future of Healthcare program will be developed in collaboration with 91福利鈥檚 Faculty of Community Services, which is home to many of the university鈥檚 health-focused programs such as the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing and Midwifery Education Program, and from 91福利 Student Affairs.

鈥淭he Future of Healthcare pathway program will help students broaden their career possibilities by opening their eyes and minds to healthcare-related fields of study,鈥 says Dr. Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, 91福利. 鈥淭hrough this meaningful partnership between 91福利 and the Peel District School Board, we hope to achieve better representation of equity-deserving groups in healthcare, where they have been historically underrepresented.鈥

This initiative is just one of the many ways in which the School of Medicine will demonstrate its commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Access (EDIA) and engagement with communities in Brampton and surrounding areas.
