Program information
The 91¸£Àû School of Medicine's Psychiatry Residency Program received accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in October of 2024.
91¸£Àû’s Psychiatry residency program will train excellent clinicians who are community-driven, culturally competent and prepared to handle complex patient needs. Learners will develop an appreciation for a holistic approach to psychiatry in a supportive environment featuring a wide range of clinical, community and interdisciplinary training opportunities. The program will nurture the personal and professional goals of each resident, fostering excellence in critical thinking, scholarly activity, leadership and advocacy.

Foundational Curriculum
Our comprehensive, competency-based Foundational Curriculum covers diverse areas including equity, diversity and inclusion in medical care, research strategies, communication skills and patient safety. Our unique LEARN Time program also offers individualized time, space and resources for residents to focus on areas of specialized interest.
Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and meet both the and the in order to apply to the Psychiatry residency program. International medical graduates are eligible to apply provided they meet .
Residents who complete 91¸£Àû’s Psychiatry program will be eligible to complete the Royal College examination in Psychiatry.
Residents will train at four sites with whom 91¸£Àû has clinical affiliations.

How to Apply
Applications to the Psychiatry program are only accepted through CaRMS. All applicants will be notified through CaRMS Online and 91¸£Àû will send email invitations directly to applicants selected for an interview.
Note that three reference letters are required with your application. At least one letter should come from a psychiatrist who has observed you in a clinical capacity. The remaining letters could come from another psychiatrist or other physician(s)/clinical preceptor(s), interdisciplinary health professional(s), or research or extracurricular supervisor(s) who can speak to your involvement in research or community activities.
