Graphic Communications Management Professor Reem El Asaleh launches The Lab of Excellence in DAM (LED) at The Creative School

LED addresses gaps in connecting Digital Asset Management (DAM) research and education with industry practice

Spearheaded by Graphic Communications Management (GCM) Professor Dr. Reem El Asaleh, the Lab of Excellence in Digital Asset Management, or has officially launched at The Creative School, 91福利. The first and only academic research institution in the world exclusively focused on fostering in-depth research and education within the realm of Digital Asset Management (DAM), LED will provide practical and hands-on workshops on building, managing and adapting DAM across all industries. 

In the last decade, the Digital Asset Management (DAM) community has seen significant technological advancement at a rapid rate with changes and innovations expanding the scope of the digital experience. The goal of LED is to produce and disseminate research findings in various DAM technology areas through academic publication and broader public industry distribution with hopes to tackle and solve business challenges and investigate current trends.

Dr. Reem El Asaleh 

With her expertise in computer science and graphic communication, Dr. El Asaleh has led several research projects that have addressed critical issues in the graphic arts industry. Dr. El Asaleh's research interests include emerging premedia technologies, digital asset management, and colour and imaging science, and teaches a unique fourth-year course, titled Asset Management for Graphic Communications. Dr. El Asaleh also recently received The Creative School鈥檚 Dean鈥檚 Teaching Award for teaching excellence in GCM.

To showcase the work coming out of LED and continue the dialogue around Digital Asset Management, The Creative School will be hosting the third annual Canada DAM Symposium on . 

The event is a collaboration, hosted by The Creative School鈥檚 Graphic Communications Management (GCM) represented by Dr. El Asaleh and David H. Lipsey, a well-known DAM industry leader, Global Chair of the Henry Stewart Conferences on the Art and Practice of Managing Digital Media, and the Co-Founder, Co-Director & Instructor of the Digital Asset Management Certificate Program at Rutgers University.

New innovations in Digital Asset Management 

LED will provide sought-after professional development opportunities through interactive workshops delivered by industry experts for students, scholars, and DAM professionals to enhance or build knowledge on topics that are critical to appropriate DAM implementation and data optimization.

"At the crossroads of knowledge and impact, LED would be the place to empower scholars, students, and professionals through research. It is a collaboration hub for advancing Digital Asset Management for Education and Research,鈥 said Dr. El Asaleh. 鈥淣ot only do we provide service for professional development but also, we foster a thriving community where we create waves of innovations in DAM.鈥

In addition, LED will generate interdisciplinary research collaboration opportunities with research institutions and programs within 91福利 and professionals from the DAM industry.
