Academic grades and standings
Your academic standing reflects your grades and performance at 91福利. Whether you鈥檙e doing well or facing challenges, the university offers the support you need to keep your studies on track.
In cases where your grades dip or your standing drops you may be required to withdraw from a course or program, or face a disciplinary suspension. Below you鈥檒l find an overview of the policies that would apply if you find yourself in these situations.
If you鈥檙e having trouble keeping up with your grades or progressing through your program, please reach out to an academic advisor.
If your CGPA falls between 1.00 to 1.66 your academic standing will change to Probation. Here are the steps you need to regain your momentum.
If your CGPA falls below 1.00 you may be issued a RTW, or temporary suspension from your program. While suspended you鈥檒l have an opportunity to regroup and get the support you need to return to your studies. You may receive a RTW if:
- Your CGPA is below 1.00 (doesn鈥檛 apply if you鈥檙e in your first semester)
- Your Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) falls below 1.67 while already on probation
- You violate a Probationary Contract
If you鈥檝e been issued a Required to Withdraw you have three options:
Option 1: Reinstatement
Option 2: Fresh Start
Option 3: Transfer to a new program
Under a RTW suspension you can鈥檛 take any credit courses, but you can cultivate life experiences that may strengthen your chances of returning to your studies. This might include volunteer work, part-time employment or travel.
If your suspension was caused by health issues, this time can be used to put supports in place to maintain your health when you return to your studies, including registering for appropriate academic accommodations.
In some circumstances you may be required to permanently withdraw from your program. This can happen when:
- Your academic performance led to a second Required to Withdraw standing
- You failed a required course for the third time
- You鈥檝e been denied a Reinstatement for the second time
In these cases your standing will shift to Permanent Program Withdrawal (PPW) and you鈥檒l be removed from your program. This means you鈥檒l no longer be allowed to apply for reinstatement, but can still apply for admission to other 91福利 programs.
Disciplinary Suspension occurs when you鈥檝e been found to be in violation of Policy 60: Academic Integrity. A ruling might be due to plagiarism, cheating, or other academic violation. While suspended you won鈥檛 be allowed to enroll in any 91福利 courses and will need to contact your Department or School for reinstatement.
