Cedar & Summer: Indigenous Artisan Showcase

Celebrate Indigenous creativity, culture and community at our inaugural Cedar & Summer Indigenous Artisan Showcase!

Whether you're looking for unique handmade goods, great food or a chance to learn something new, everyone is welcome!

Come explore Indigenous culture on campus:

• Indigenous Makers Market: Shop for handmade artwork, jewelry, beadwork and more from talented Indigenous artists.
• Hands-on workshops: Create your own sweetgrass brush or sage and lavender bundle (while supplies last).
• Cultural teachings: Learn from a Knowledge Keeper through stories, teachings and conversation.
• Rez Caf茅: Come hungry! Enjoy favorites including Indian tacos, scone dogs, wild rice soup, refreshing strawberry drink and more. 

Join us to celebrate summer, support local artists and deepen your understanding of these timeless traditions. We look forward to sharing this space of connection and creativity with you!

Cedar & Summer: Workshop Series

Experience the richness of Indigenous culture. Join us for an interactive session where you'll explore traditional practices through hands-on activities. There is limited seating and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

We'll learn about medicinal plants through:

• A tour of the Urban Farm, including the Medicine Garden
• Creating a sweetgrass brush
• Tying sage and lavender bundles

Please note that all workshops are while supplies last.

Time and schedule: 

• Tour 1 of the Urban Farm鈥檚 Indigenous Foodways Medicine Garden: 10 a.m.
• Tour 2 of the Urban Farm鈥檚 Indigenous Foodways Medicine Garden: 10:45 a.m.
• Salve Making: 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. 
• Medicinal Tea Table and Sage Bundle demonstration: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Make your own herbal tea and learn how to make a sage smudge bundle

Cost: Free and all are welcome! There is limited seating, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

Taste of Turtle Island

Join us at Cedar & Summer for Taste of Turtle Island, a vibrant celebration of culture, community and culinary tradition! Come honour the incredible work of local Indigenous entrepreneurs, makers and chefs as they share the rich history behind their ancestral recipes and modern creations. Bring your appetite and curiosity鈥攚e look forward to gathering with you under the summer sky to eat, learn and support our thriving Indigenous business community!
