Cooltural Food Tasting: Preserving Culture through Fermentation 鈥� An Exploration of Philippine Vinegars

Join us for a sampling of vinegars from the Philippines, accompanied by some classic Philippine foods that are taken to the next level with vinegar! The island archipelago of the Philippines has traditionally preserved foods through a combination of drying, salting, and fermenting. This food tasting event will focus on the important role of suka (vinegar) in Philippine cuisine and allow participants to try vinegars that have been important in the history of culinary and cultural sense making in the island archipelago, with a special focus on the vinegars and foods of the northern Philippines. Hosted by Dr. Dana Osborne and Language and Intercultural Relations (LIR) program students Kristen Pabello and Rj Mendoza.

Multilingual Letter Writing Workshop

Please arrive by 2:00PM - arrive earlier for tea and to select your stationary!

Join us for an exciting journey into the world of second-generation Spanish speakers! The Espanglish Generation is a compelling documentary that captures the essence of what it means to be a Canadian/Latin American born after 1990. This generation, referred to as 鈥淓spanglish,鈥� navigates the rich, complex tapestry of dual heritage, interweaving the vibrant cultures of their Latin roots with their Canadian upbringing. Director Oscar Vigil, Executive Director Hispanic Heritage Council and some of the cast will be present for a Q&A.
