Today鈥檚 students are tomorrow鈥檚 environmental justice fighters.
Dr. Lynda McCarthy鈥檚 teaching philosophy borrows from , The Lorax, and the environmental movement of the 1960s. She highlights the urgency of tackling climate change challenges in today鈥檚 context and teaches her students present-day strategies to combat environmental issues.
Lynda is passionate about 鈥渢eaching the children well鈥� and ensuring that the voting public is deeply educated in environmental topics. This holds true in her teaching at Toronto Met as well as with her involvement in community education initiatives.
The McCarthy Lab
The McCarthy Lab consists of graduate students and fourth-year undergraduate students. Upon completion of their training in the McCarthy Lab, Lynda鈥檚 students have experience designing and conducting experiments at temporal and spatial scales and can move forward to advocate for policy changes in Canada鈥檚 environmental system.
Community Initiatives
Outside of Toronto Met, Lynda is involved with educators from various Faculties of Education in Ontario. She has led initiatives to develop a deep environmental literacy in the public and has spoken at events aimed at audiences from school-aged children to senior citizens.
