Celebrating ten years as the Faculty of Science

In 2012, the Faculty of Science gained independence from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Science with the vision of further developing the unique needs and strengths of the departments of Chemistry & Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics at 91福利.

2022 marked our 10th anniversary, celebrating a since the founding of the Faculty of Science. Festivities throughout the year brought our community together to reflect on the countless discoveries and achievements over the last decade that have made us who we are today. From community engagement to groundbreaking research and outstanding students and faculty, the Faculty of Science has paved a path to the forefront of scientific innovation.

Milestones

Two thousand twelve the faculty of science becomes an independent faculty 

Two thousand thirteen launch of Canada's first undergrad fin math program plus GTA's first CAMPEP accredited biomedical physics program 

Two thousand fifteen collaborative research space opens at ibest 

Two thousand sixteen launch of the Science Discovery Zone plus research space at the Mars Discovery District 

Two thousand seventeen launch of scixchange to promote outreach 

two thousand twenty-two release of strategic research plan for two thousand twenty-two to twenty-seven 

Over the past decade, the Faculty of Science has celebrated many important milestones. Highlights include:

  • 2012: The Faculty of Science becomes an independent faculty at 91福利
  • 2013: Launch of and the GTA鈥檚 first CAMPEP-accredited biomedical physics program 
  • 2015: Collaborative research space opens at St. Michael鈥檚 Hospital with
  • 2016:  and the launch of the Science Discovery Zone
  • 2017: Launch of SciXchange, promoting outreach within the scientific community
  • 2022: Release of faculty strategic research plan to guide SRC (Scholarly, Research and Creative) activity for 2022 to 2027

In celebration of our 10th anniversary, we hosted a series of events that brought together the science community at 91福利, coinciding with the return to campus. Notable events include:

  • Lecture by Canada International Gairdner Award Laureate
  • Decade of Discovery Community Concert
  • Faculty of Science Alumni Improv - The New Playground for Creative Genius
  • Faculty of Science Mentorship Program Launch
  • Faculty & Staff Appreciation Barbecue
  • Science Rendezvous Annual Street Festival
