Frequently Asked Questions

The Sheldon & Tracy Levy Student Learning Centre (SLC) is a place for the university community to study, collaborate, and invent.

An iconic structure in the heart of Toronto, it is the symbolic 鈥渇ront door鈥 of campus and a world-class learning destination for the university community.

The building is guided by five principles:

  1. Respect the needs of the students.
  2. Maximize the use of the SLC in ways that support the first principle and promotes academic stakeholder activity.
  3. Leverage opportunities for student and university community engagement.
  4. Foster a dynamic environment.
  5. Enhance 91福利鈥檚 reputation.

The 91福利 community is encouraged to use the SLC in ways that support the five principles. On top of studying, university community members can use the SLC for events through tabling opportunities and Amphitheatre bookings.

The SLC is also home to academic stakeholders:

If you鈥檙e traveling to the SLC by public transit, there are many stations close by:

鈥 The nearest subway stations are College or 91福利 Station

鈥 The nearest stop is Union Station. From there it is a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute subway ride to 91福利 Station

All SLC entrances are accessible. From Gould Street, there is a ramp at the southeast corner of the building (at O鈥橩eefe Lane).  During operating hours, an elevator is also available to bring guests from street level to the main entrance.

The stairwell art initiative was developed to spread positive messages, and fill an otherwise blank space with something colourful and lively. In the past, most of the art has been created by our very own talented SLC student staff.

During the Winter 2024 semester, we worked with students in the GCM 806 Advanced Typography class, led by instructor Diana Varma, to update the SLC stairwell art. Read more about the class project at:

Want to have your art featured at the SLC? We accept submissions year-round, giving all university community members a chance to make their mark in our stairwell! All 91福利 artists (students, staff, faculty, and alumni) can submit their work. Whether through text or art, we want to see what you have to say!
